Letting Go

The day that we parents look forward to finally came for us last week. Luke decided he wanted to start wearing his "Bob the Builder" underpants. He was trained in a couple days and is doing great. This got me thinking, being a mom is bittersweet isn't it? Here we are preparing our little people to be productive members of society and we are so proud when they do things like, get potty trained. Yet, with each step it means we have to let go a little more. And letting go means letting the world into our safe haven's. When I dropped Luke off at MOPS on Fri. I made sure to let one of the teachers know that he was now potty trained but, would need some help going. It was the male teacher and he said he would be happy to help him. For a second a wave of fear swept over me...do I really want him to help him? Letting go also has meant deepening my faith. Letting go should equal letting God into our lives even more. I am solely dependent on him protecting my little guys when I cannot be there. And I realized, once again this week that he does. But, even more then that I was reminded of how much he wants us to depend on him.

Goodness, I didn't realize how out of the times I was until I started to create this web page/ blog...whatever it's called. Isn't it crazy how times have changed? I often wish my Grandma Burton could come back for just one day....what would she say about how we communicate now. It's really amazing in good ways and not so good ways. Take that mini van commercial for instance, you know the one where the family all has headphones on watching different programs on TV or listen to music. They are all smiling...I wonder why? Must be a funny show on, I guess. What happened to good old fashion family talks in the car....even fights for that matter...at least it was a form of communicating and learning how to deal with others. Anyway, I still believe the good outweighs the bad. Like this page for instance; how cool that our family who do not get to visit with us often can enjoy our lives by simply turning on their computers. Amazing!
